Afio Mai = Welcome

Talofa!

I'm Tina. In September of 2014 my husband and I moved our family of 4 (amazing) children to American Samoa. This blog is meant to document my adventure here. Oh yeah, and I'm afakasi.

Afakasi = half cast = bi racial.

My dad is Samoan. My mom is pagai. Palagi = caucasian = white.

My husband is (the most wonderful person on the planet) from American Samoa and since being married into his family I've learned a LOT more about my Samoan culture. I love it. Most of it.

Some people might think that since I'm half Samoan this move is easy for me. WRONG! It has been a crazy adventure with ups and downs and all-arounds! Much more than I expected, but I honestly can tell you I wouldn't change it for anything.

My idea for this is to document MY experience. Everyone's life experiences are different, if you moved here I would expect your story to be very different. This is MY story.

*BTW I hate pictures of myself, especially selfies. I'll make a deal with you: don't expect too many of them and I'll try to take some one or two.
